What Is Project Tank Wars?

Project Tank Wars is an independent, server-authoritative tank combat game built to sit somewhere between arcade and simulator. You get quick match flow and readable UI, but under the hood the physics, armor and shell behavior are grounded in reality.

You drop into medium-sized combined arms maps built for flanking routes, hull-down positions and cross-fires – not brainless brawling. Every movement matters: engine torque, terrain slope and track grip all feed into how your tank actually behaves.

The goal is simple: keep it fun and readable, but never “fake” enough that experienced tank enjoyers feel cheated. If you angle your armor correctly, you should live. If you expose your side to AP rounds, you probably won’t.

Core Features

Steel, Optics, and Positioning

Everything in Project Tank Wars is tuned for clear feedback and tactical depth: you should always understand why you died, and what you could do differently next round.

Ballistics
Realistic Shell Physics

Shell travel time, normalization, ricochets and penetration values are modeled per round. Angling and distance matter – snapshots are possible, but not magic.

Armor
Modeled Armor Profiles

Turret cheeks, lower plates and side armor use physical layouts rather than generic hit points. You will learn where to shoot each tank, or suffer until you do.

Mobility
Tank-Like Movement

Raycast suspension and drivetrain simulation give each vehicle its own character. Mud, slopes and turns all influence how your hull reacts.

Spots & Vision
Line-of-Sight Spotting

Vision is based on spotting checks and obstacles, not arcade “radar.” Use bushes, ridges and hard cover to break line-of-sight and disappear.

Netcode
Server-Authoritative Matches

The server is the source of truth for movement, damage, and spotting. No client-side health hacks or speed cheats – if it didn’t happen on the server, it didn’t happen.

Progression
Modules, Crew & Loadouts

Customize ammo, modules and crew perks to fit your playstyle. Decide between higher DPM, stronger armor layouts, or stealthier scout builds.
